If there is one piece of equipment in your computer that you would predict to fail first, what would it be? Some might pick the power supply, some might pick the motherboard and even some might pick the video card. Most however, are going to choose the hard drive.

The standard IDE/SATA hard drive today is still the most mechanical piece of equipment sitting in your present day PC. And this will continue to be the case until solid state drives become much cheaper and much more compatible for present day hardware. The most unfortunate part of the problems with these drives, is how incredibly critical they are to the state of your computer. A hard drive failure means a dead computer – unless you are lucky enough to be running in some type of RAID environment, which most home users won’t be.

One of the biggest reasons for the pervasive clutter in my apartment is a lack of time to deal with it. It takes longer to put a shirt away than it does to just throw it on the floor, so onto the floor it goes. As long as there’s a path from the door to my bed, I tend not to ignore and perpetuate the clutter. I’m increasingly realizing, though, that all the out-of-place stuff in my life can become a huge time drain. I spend precious minutes and hours looking for things that could be easily avoided by a better system, and a few minutes devoted to staying organized.

In an effort to become more organized, especially in my personal space, I’ve found a few methods that can help even the busiest of us to get organized, or at least get the organization ball rolling, in only a few minutes. In the time it takes to brush my teeth or check my voicemail, I’m able to get some of the junk in my life a little more in order.

How To Easily Change Your Usplash Screen In Ubuntu.

ubuntu-usplashI remember when I first booted up Ubuntu on my computer three years ago that I wasn’t very impressed with the dull black usplash screen. It gave me a feeling that I was back to the Windows 95 era.

Three years down the road, even though the Ubuntu team has made changes and improvements to the usplash screen, it is still nowhere close to beautiful. Luckily, a good thing about Linux (and Ubuntu) is that it is fully customizable and you can tweak every single part to your liking. That is to say, even though the default does not come with a beautiful usplash screen, you can still tweak it to display your favorite image.

Follow the guide below and you’ll be having your own custom usplash screen in no time.

In Ubuntu Intrepid, there is a bug that prevents you from setting your own usplash screen. To overcome this, we will remove the default usplash and install splashy.

Nokia N97 kommer til marts

Noget tyder på at Nokia vil sende deres nye super-mobil på gaden i slutningen af marts.

På CES 2009 kunne de fremmødte nyde en fuld funktionel Nokia N97 på Nokias stand. Derfor er det også nærliggende at tro, at mobilen snart vil være på trapperne i butikkerne.

Onlinebutikken Play.com mener da også at vide, at Nokias nyeste super-mobil N97, med udskydeligt Qwerty-tastatur, er på gaden den 31. marts i år. De kan samtidig også oplyse en pris på 480 pund, der svarer til omkring 3.800 kroner.

Udover tastaturet har mobilen også en trykfølsom skærm, 32 GB-hukommelse og et 5-megapixelkamera. Alt sammen noget der lyder interessant, og vi holder selvfølgelig øje med mobilen her på TV 2 Beep.

Palm Pre undskylder på forhånd når du kommer for sent.

Operativsystemet på den kommende Palm Pre hævdes at bringe smartphone-konceptet videre til næste udviklingstrin. Eksempelvis vil tæt integration mellem web, GPS og kalender gøre brugeren i stand til at komme for sent til sine aftaler på en langt mere komfortabel måde end tidligere.
